Meet Our Team at Dental Care of Oak Park

Dr. Brendan Vastlik, DDS takes a patient-centered approach to dentistry, focusing on listening first. He believes the best outcomes come from understanding each patient’s goals and working together to create a treatment plan that feels right. His calm, supportive style helps patients feel more comfortable and confident during every visit.

Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Vastlik gained hands-on experience as a dental assistant and lab technician. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University and continues to pursue advanced training in implant dentistry, clear aligners, laser dentistry, and endodontics to provide modern, thoughtful care.

Dr. John Perna, DDS brings over 25 years of experience and a steady, patient-focused approach to care. He is known for creating a comfortable environment where patients feel heard and supported, especially those who may feel anxious about treatment. His goal is to make every visit as clear and stress-free as possible.

Dr. Perna completed his dental education at Northwestern University Dental School and advanced training at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology, he has demonstrated a high level of expertise in implant dentistry and continues to stay active in ongoing education and professional organizations.

Emily has been in the dental field since 2017 after earning her certification in dental assisting from Triton College. She enjoys helping patients feel at ease during procedures and is certified in coronal polishing and sealant application, CPR, and AED. Emily also completed an Advanced PRF Education program in facial esthetics and is currently pursuing her phlebotomy certification.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and her fur baby, Bruce.

Nirvana has been a valued member of our team since January 2018 and brings over 20 years of experience in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implantology, and periodontology. She is certified in CPR, AED, OSHA Compliance, HIPAA, and completed the PRF Education program in facial esthetics, reflecting her commitment to professional growth.

When she isn’t at the office, Nirvana enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, balancing her career and personal life with care and intention.

Mirella joined Dental Care of Oak Park in 2022 and brings over 10 years of dental experience. She values helping patients achieve confidence in their smiles while considering their personal goals and finances. Mirella is bilingual in Spanish, ensuring clear communication for our diverse patient community.

In her free time, Mirella enjoys kayaking on Lake Michigan with her son and cheering on the Cubs with friends.

Erica graduated from Kennedy-King College in 2013 and decided to pursue dental hygiene to promote better oral health. Early in her career, she provided care to underserved communities, which deepened her passion for dentistry.

A dedicated mom of two, Erica spends her free time supporting her children’s sports, baking, and crocheting. She is also training to run a half marathon before turning 40.

Michele has practiced dental hygiene since 1993, graduating from Parkland College in Champaign, IL. She is committed to continuing education to stay current with the latest techniques and enjoys helping patients achieve healthy smiles through practical tips and guidance.

Outside of the office, Michele enjoys road biking, hiking, exploring Chicago neighborhoods, and cooking with her sons. She is greeted daily by her cat, Clover, who is always waiting for her at home.
